National Citizenship Service

23rd August 2017

The National Citizenship Service (NCS) runs over the summer holidays for 15 – 17 year olds to encourage them to take part in exhilarating challenges, make their mark in the world and build on skills for work and life.  As part of the course they take part in a social action project where they support a local charity.  One of the NCS groups from this summers course chose Thurrock Foodbank as their charity.  Their name is Team Spartan.

The did several events to raise money and awareness of the Foodbank across the borough, including a sponsored walk from Grays railway station to Chafford Hundred railway station, a cake sale and a five a side football competition.  In all they raised approx £500.

We are really grateful for all their efforts and I am  looking forward to meeting next years NCS teams and working with them.
