Procter and Gamble Reward Thurrock foodbank with generous donation

20th May 2016

P&G Award

On Saturday evening, volunteers from Thurrock foodbank were invited to a Community Matters Awards dinner hosted by Procter and Gamble.

The dinner was a celebration of the good work done by P&G employees, in raising money for good causes, and three local charities. Thurrock Mind, SERICC and Thurrock foodbank were all rewarded for the work they do in the community with awards of £10,000.

Although run almost entirely by volunteers and dependent upon the generosity of local people, businesses and schools for food donations, there are still a number of overheads that Thurrock foodbank has to meet to keep running. This incredibly generous donation will go a long way towards enabling the foodbank to continue providing emergency food to local people in crisis.

‘We were just blown away by the amount P&G gave us,’ said Kim (one of the volunteers). ‘It was far more than we expected and it will make such a difference. Thank you P&G.’
