Urgent shortages list

23rd March 2026

Our foodbank is currently experiencing shortages of several essential items, and we urgently need your support to help meet the growing demand in our community. Without a consistent supply of certain items, it becomes increasingly challenging to provide balanced and reliable food parcels to those who depend on us. Every donation, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in helping us continue our work and support people facing hardship. If you can, please consider adding the following items to your shopping list.

Long-life sponge puddings are a much-needed comfort item for the people we support, offering a simple, ready-to-heat dessert that can make a real difference during difficult times. These puddings have a long shelf life, making them ideal for storage and distribution, and they require minimal preparation—perfect for individuals and families with limited cooking facilities. Beyond their practicality, they also provide a sense of warmth and normality, especially for children and those going through hardship. Donations of long-life sponge puddings help us add a small but meaningful treat to our food parcels, boosting both nutrition and morale.

Tinned fruit is an important item in our food parcels, providing a convenient and long-lasting source of vitamins and natural sweetness. With a long shelf life and no need for refrigeration, it’s an ideal option for individuals and families who may have limited access to fresh produce. Tinned fruit can be enjoyed on its own or used to complement meals and desserts, helping to add variety to otherwise basic food supplies. Donations of tinned fruit allow us to offer a more balanced and nutritious selection, while also giving people a simple, uplifting addition to their daily meals.

Packet mash is a highly valued item in our food parcels, as it provides a quick, filling, and versatile source of comfort food. With a long shelf life and simple preparation—just requiring hot water or milk—it’s especially helpful for those with limited cooking facilities or time. Packet mash can be paired with a variety of other items to create a more substantial meal, helping to stretch ingredients further. Donations of packet mash enable us to provide an easy, reliable staple that brings both nourishment and a sense of familiarity to people facing difficult circumstances.

Long-life fruit juice is an important addition to our food parcels, offering a refreshing and convenient source of vitamins that can be stored for extended periods without refrigeration. Its long shelf life makes it ideal for distribution and ensures that recipients can enjoy it whenever needed. For many of the people we support, long-life fruit juice provides a welcome alternative to water and adds a touch of variety to their daily diet. Donations of long-life fruit juice help us supply a more balanced range of items while also offering a small but meaningful boost to wellbeing.

Pasta sauce is a key item in our food parcels, helping to turn basic staples like pasta into a nutritious and enjoyable meal. Ready to use and easy to prepare, it’s especially valuable for individuals and families with limited time, equipment, or cooking experience. With a long shelf life, pasta sauce can be stored and distributed efficiently, ensuring it’s available when needed most. Donations of pasta sauce allow us to provide simple, balanced meal options and add flavour and variety to everyday essentials.

Noodles are a highly valued item in our food parcels, providing a quick, convenient, and filling meal option for those we support. With a long shelf life and very simple preparation—often just requiring hot water—they are ideal for individuals with limited cooking facilities or time. Noodles are versatile and can be enjoyed on their own or combined with other ingredients to create a more substantial meal. Donations of noodles help us offer an easy, reliable staple that brings both nourishment and comfort to people facing challenging circumstances.
