Volunteers Week

3rd June 2021

This week is Volunteers Week which gives us an extra opportunity to thank our amazing, hard working volunteers for the dedicated service they give to Thurrock Foodbank and to our clients week in, week out.  We have teams of volunteers in our Warehouse and our 10 Distribution Centres and without this army of volunteers we simply couldn’t operate.  We also have 6 very dedicated van drivers and assistants who work extremely hard collecting donations from all our collection points throughout the borough. And our behind the scenes team who liaise with schools, churches, community groups and vouchergivers and do all the admin and data entry. Not forgetting those volunteers working from home due to Covid restrictions who contribute greatly and remain integral members of our team.   All our volunteers have adapted amazingly well with all the challenges that the past year has brought and have helped us feed 8,475 people in need in Thurrock.

Volunteers Week reminds us that we are truly all in this together and it’s together that we will ensure that everyone can afford the essentials in life and create a hunger free future where food banks are no longer needed.  We thank every one of our volunteers, whatever their role, for their continued dedication, it really is appreciated, we couldn’t operate without you all 👏👏.
