The latest statistics from the Trussell Trust show that across the country and the network of 400 + Trussell Trust food banks they have fed over 1,182,000 people, adults and children in the past year, from 1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017.

In Thurrock we have fed 4504 people in 2016 – 2017, this is a 15% increase on the number of people we fed the previous year of just under 4,000.

The main reasons for being referred to the Foodbank in Thurrock are low income followed by changes or delays to benefits.

Thurrock Foodbank relies on the generosity of local residents, churches, businesses and community groups to provide the food that we give out, this year we have received just under 4 tonnes of food in donations.

We are also generously supported financially, our costs include, maintenance and running costs for our van, costs of running our warehouse and employing a part time operations manager.

If you would like to get involved with the food bank, either by fund raising, volunteering at one of our store collections or collecting food for us, please get in touch.
